Student Recreation Coordinator

This is not a teaching role. It is a role for someone who genuinely loves being around young people, understands how teenagers play, and has the energy and creativity to make school a more joyful place.
VHS is investing in real-world, hands-on recreation experiences for students. The Student Recreation Coordinator will curate, set up, and facilitate a rich variety of activities during morning tea, lunch breaks, and free periods — think ball games, board games, Lego, jigsaw puzzles, musical instruments, art supplies, outdoor challenges, and whatever else students get excited about.
In keeping with the VHS philosophy, this person will create an open, low-pressure environment where students feel free to explore, connect, and just be kids. They will operate in the spirit of a youth worker rather than a teacher — meeting students where they are, building genuine relationships, and creating the conditions for authentic play and social connection.
EMPLOYMENT CONSIDERATIONS
• Must hold or acquire and maintain a Working with Children Check (employee status).
• Relevant qualification or significant experience in youth work, community services, recreation, or a related field.
• Hold and maintain a current Driver’s Licence.
• Ability to fully participate in an outdoor learning program, including off-site activities, water-based activities, overnight camps, and all-weather programs.
