Assistant Mentors assist Mentors as they deliver the academic and Village School program for students in all years. This may be achieved by assisting students in a large group presentation, supporting students during independent work time, attending Out ‘n’ Abouts, and coordinating with Mentors and visiting specialists.
Core Responsibilities -
• Assist mentors in delivering the VHS Curriculum and the Victorian Curriculum as required to optimise engagement and outcomes for students.
• Assist mentors in the planning and set-up of the VHS Curriculum and the Victorian Curriculum as required to facilitate optimal learning for students.
• Assist with record keeping of student progress including photographic evidence, observations and work samples as required.
• Contribute to and/or implement Individual Learning Plans, as required.
• Support students (in small groups or 1-on-1) to navigate their learning tasks.
• Support students to exercise their ability to self-regulate and use their executive skills.
• Support students in their social and emotional well-being.
• Assist the mentors to co-create and maintain an inspiring learning space that supports and engages students.
EMPLOYMENT CONSIDERATIONS
• Must hold or acquire and maintain a Working with Children Check (employee status).
• Hold and maintain a current Driver’s Licence.
• Ability to fully participate in an outdoor learning program, including off-site activities, water-based activities, overnight camps, and all-weather programs.
