assistant mentor
about this position
At Village High School, we believe that meaningful relationships are at the heart of learning. As an Assistant Mentor, you will play an important role in supporting students to engage with their learning, build confidence, and experience success both inside and outside the classroom.
Working alongside our Mentors, you will provide academic support across a range of subjects, with a particular focus on helping students develop their English and Maths skills. Whether you're assisting a small group with a literacy task, supporting a student to navigate a challenging maths concept, or helping young people stay organised and focused during independent learning time, you'll be a consistent and encouraging presence in their day.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with young people and understands that every student learns differently. You'll help students develop independence, self-regulation, confidence and resilience while contributing to a learning environment where curiosity, creativity and individual strengths are celebrated.
Village High School is not a traditional school setting. We offer an innovative and highly personalised approach to education that supports students to discover and pursue their unique interests, passions and future pathways. As part of our small and collaborative team, you'll have the opportunity to build genuine relationships with students, families and colleagues while contributing to a school culture that values respect, connection and growth.
We're looking for someone who is adaptable, positive, relationship-focused and confident supporting students with their academic learning. If you're passionate about helping young people thrive and excited by the opportunity to be part of an alternative education community, we'd love to hear from you.
Please note that this position is commencing Term 4, 2026.
